November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month

PurpleStride-Portland2010 happens on Sunday, November 7, 2010 a 2K WALK at 9 a.m. at the Oregon Zoo.  Portland Providence Cancer Center supports PurpleStride-Portland 2010 a fundraiser in support of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network to advance research, support patients and create hope.  Dollars raised each year fund personalized support for patients, as well as research grants and advocacy efforts to increase pancreatic cancer research funding.  Sign up today or learn more at PurpleStride-Portland.  Come out and join us on the 2K walk in support of Pancreatic Cancer Research November 7th.

Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States.  More than 35,000 people will died from it  this year.  The 5 year survivor rate is only 5%.  Picture this, walk into a room of 100 people –5 years later,  there will only be 5 or less left!    Think about it–that is a statistic that you don’t want to be a part of.  These are people just like you…people like my husband, John who died from Pancreatic Cancer in March of 2009.  Be a Hero in the fight against “Pancreatic Cancer”.  Get involved.  “Know it !  Fight it!  End it!”

During the month of November,  the Fulton House Bed & Breakfast in Portland, Oregon will continue its support to the Providence Portland Cancer Center for Pancreatic Cancer  research by donating proceeds from our November bookings during our 1 night & second night for just $25  room rates.  The month-long promotion is one night booking at our regular  room rate and the second night room rate for  just $25 which will be donated to Providence Portland Cancer  Center for pancreatic cancer research.

This offers has a 2 night min/max stay and is good Monday through Thursday in November w/continental breakfast excludes holidays.  Call us at 503-892-5781 for more details.  Or book on-line and mention this special.

Please support our efforts to help fund and support pancreatic cancer research.  Look for our team walking for Pancreatic Cancer at the Oregon Zoo on November 7th, if you would like to join our team, go to www.purplestride.org

The Deschutes Brewery Street Fare event from August 12 was great fun.  This event helped support the “Morrison Children & Family Services” which works towards restoring childhood, helps rebuilding families and strives for renewing hope.

The Deschutes Brewery paired several Portland Food Carts with their brews.  For Only a $5 entry included 1st Food & Beer Taster and additional Food & Beer Tasters were $4.  What a great bargain with Street Food from Portland’s Best Food Carts, Live, local Mustic from Sally Ford & the Sounders and Outside & AgesandAges plus the featured Craft Beers from Deschutes Brewery.

Here a few of the Food Carts which  included a food sample plus a featured Beer.  Pyro Pizza served a Margherita Pizza on wheat crust paired with Twilight Ale —  Garden State Meatball sliders with Sage Brush Pilsner – Oregon Ice Works a peach, strawberry or chocolate Black Butte Porter paired with Hop Henge Experimental IPA plus 7 other beers and food carts for the downtown area.
