Always Something to Do in Portland, Oregon

Deschutes Brewery Street Fare

There is always something to do in Portland, Oregon.  Just check out the A&E section of the Oregonian, Willamette Week’s what’s happening, The Fulton House Blog or the  Travel Portland website.

The Deschutes Brewery Street Fare event from August 12 was great fun.  This event helped support the “Morrison Children & Family Services” which works towards restoring childhood, helps rebuilding families and strives for renewing hope.

The Deschutes Brewery paired several Portland Food Carts with their brews.  For Only a $5 entry included 1st Food & Beer Taster and additional Food & Beer Tasters were $4.  What a great bargain with Street Food from Portland’s Best Food Carts, Live, local Mustic from Sally Ford & the Sounders and Outside & AgesandAges plus the featured Craft Beers from Deschutes Brewery.

Here a few of the Food Carts which  included a food sample plus a featured Beer.  Pyro Pizza served a Margherita Pizza on wheat crust paired with Twilight Ale —  Garden State Meatball sliders with Sage Brush Pilsner – Oregon Ice Works a peach, strawberry or chocolate Black Butte Porter paired with Hop Henge Experimental IPA plus 7 other beers and food carts for the downtown area.

Check out our Facebook page for the video and  Look for our guests,  Ron & Chrissy from Rockaway, New Jersey enjoying the beautiful warm weather, the food & beers, the music and the street fare.Click Here

Waterfront Park Portland, Oregon Blues Festival

Summer has come to Oregon in a rush. Temperatures here in Portland are in the high 70′s-80′s, the sun is shining brightly and the weatherman  is predicting  perfectly clear skies with not a cloud in sight. But, like almost always, there is a cooling breeze that keeps us from over-heating.

Check out a video of the Waterfront Blues 2009 — Robben Ford .

Don’t miss this exciting event and great entertainers.  The Portland Waterfront Blues Festival is the 2nd largest in the USA.

“Weird Oregon” & Open House

Weird Oregon Book Signing Event

If you joined us for our “Open House & “Weird Oregon” book signing Event on June 12th, thank you for coming and we hoped you enjoyed our first of many events here at the B & B.  If you were unable to attend, you will have other opportunities during 2010 to join us.  Saturday’s event was filled with great conversations and stories, good fixings from “Uncle Reo’s BBQ”,  unique varieties of beers from the “Beer Mongers” in SE Portland, Wine from John’s Wine Cellar and great people.

Jeff Davis--Author, Weird Oregon

Jeff Davis, co-author of “Weird Oregon” visited with guests, shared stories and talked about his ghosts and paranormal adventures.  Books were available for purchase as well as personalized and signed.  A treasure for your coffee table or just a fun book about legends and places to travel here in Oregon.  Maybe it could be your 100 things to see and do in Oregon–add it to your bucket list.  Click here to check out his website.

If you missed this event, Jeff and his co-author will be revealing some of the most exciting, yet strange stories, that they encountered while they were creating the book, at these venues:

May 19, 6:30 p.m., Barnes & Noble, 18300 N.W. Evergreen Parkway, Beaverton, both will appear.

May 21, 7 p.m., Barnes & Noble, 1317 Lloyd Center, Portland, both will appear.

May 22, 2 p.m., Barnes & Noble, 2690 N.E. Highway 20, Bend, only Jeff will appear (now that’s weird).

So what are some of the things that keep Portland weird, according to the authors? A jug-shaped building, a Paul Bunyan statue, a Russian coffee house.  And even the Fulton House Bed & Breakfast found on page 60 & 61, “Could we be Nancy Bogg’s infamous Bordello?”

Weird Oregon

For every Weird Oregon book purchased at the Fulton House Bed & Breakfast,  the Innkeeper donated $5.00  to the Providence Cancer Center/Portland for cancer research.  Wendy will be sending  a check for $200.  A special “Thank you” to everyone who purchased a book!
